Well here is why Angie called me away. She had hand washed a blouse and had hung in on a hanger by an open window. It is a windy day. Need I say more. The blouse landed on the roof top below us somewhere between the first and second floor. Well once again the staff came to our rescue. The blouse was retrieved with a 20 foot pole and some creative menuevering from one of the workers here. I am beginning to think that the people here will have more stories to tell their grandchildren about the crazy American couple who came to town once upon a time than we will have to tell about them. (It is interesting that they would have a 20 foot pole at their disposal. Maybe some other Americans have been here before us)
Sept. 22 Monday
After a rough night on the hard mattress we awoke once again early. I first woke around 4:45 and later got out of bed at 5:50. While Angie showered I made coffee. After a few house keeping matters, we headed downstairs for breakfast. We each had an omelette; 2 fried eggs topped off with a few tomato pieces and cucumber. Today we had hoped to hear a positive word from Thouc regarding our G& R. He left us at the hotel while he went on his errands. Our day was spent mostly trying to work on the internet connection. There is a problem with it working some times and not at others. After a long period of trial and error, the hotel manager called for help and service has been better although it is slow.
Thouc came by around 9:30. While he and Tom had breakfast, we had Jayden and Dat in our room again. We spent about an hour with the boys. Like yesterday they explored and Jayden played with every button in sight. Thouc returned and we visited a while in our hotel suite. He doesn't offer much information. Although he knows we are anxious about our G&R, he does not seem to convey our sense of urgency. Perhaps that is just his way but we wish he would be more forthcoming. All we know is that the Doctor is supposed to visit the Leader of the Province regarding our G&R. While we visited, Thouc did offer one piece of valuable information. He pointed out our window on the third floor and showed us the hospital where Jayden was left at 3 days old. He elaborated a little regarding the circumstances and we will share this with Jayden at the appropriate time.
Thouc soon left with the boys and Angie and I were confined to our hotel. A long afternoon followed with no word from Thouc. At one point I walked down to the hospital just 300 yards from the hotel and took a few pictures. Once again I was the center of attention as people in the streets shouted, "hello" and stared. I spoke to one man who spoke a little English and told him where I was from. As we talked a crowd gathered to hear the strange man speaking strange words. I returned to the hotel and waited with Angie. We passed the time watching movies, trying to work on emails (when the internet was working) and wondering where Thouc was.
Finally around 5:15 he returned. We visited a while in the room with the boys again. However, Angie and I both noticed that Thouc was unusually preoccupied. He offered no word, absolutely nothing regarding his afternoon. We do not know what if anything he learned regarding our G&R or if it will happen tomorrow. I do not know if he was so quiet and downcast because of news he learned that he is not sharing or if perhaps, we are having our G&R tomorrow and he is realizing that his hours with Jayden are fast coming to an end. He does love him so. Anyway, we soon left for a couple of hours at the baby home. We played more ball and games with the children and then returned to the hotel to call it a day. We stopped off at the reception desk in the lobby to order some Dinner. The menu has no English words on it but it does have some pictures. They say that a picture is worth a thousand words. Well some of those pictures spoke more than we wanted to know. Snake or lizard anyone?
It is now past midnight as I write this. Not every day is as productive as others. Not much ground was made today as far as we can tell. Maybe tomorrow. "The sun will come out tomorrow." Thank you for your prayers and thoughts.
Let's Get Jayden Home!!!

I just need to tell you how much I am enjoying your blog! You are getting to experience VN in a way that so many miss when they spend all their time in the big cities in posh hotels. We've done it both ways and we much prefer the adventures of the less-than-posh ;) Not that I don't like to be pampered in a 5 star hotel, but that really is no way to get to know VN....the true VN. How fun to live this journey through your eyes and experiences. It sounds like you are making the most of it and really enjoying your time....lizards and bats and blown away blouses and all! ;)
molly
